BT Warthog Sketch by Amuscaria BT Warthog Sketch by Amuscaria
BTized A-10 that I found lying around in my paper shredder. Fixed up some minor mistakes. Perhaps some BT fans will have use for it, idunno.

The A-10 is my favorite non supersonic plane, of not plane, in general. That GAU-8 Avenger Cannon always had me sold.

Still a lot of perspective issues on this, despite the fixes. So it's unlikely that I'll bother finishing it unless someone had some good use for it.

Would love to see a new version of this design redone, looks great now, wonder what it would look like with your current techniques.

Had a bit of fun with this one (what? You've seen me do these replies with a ton of your stuff. And you've got insanely good stuff too) and it's 100% fully compliant with the current BTech rules. Just wished I could figure out what to do about what looks like two mini-turrets, facing aft, just inside of where the wing mounted engines are. Or are those just Star Wars-ish 'greeble bits'?

Oh and yes, please do finish it. This is one of your designs that frankly screams to be completed. Your paper shredder was likely doing the machine equivalent of "Nuh-uh, no way am I shredding something that damn good".

A-20 Warthog
Inner Sphere ASF
100 tons
300XL (5/8 move)
16.5 tons Ferro-Aluminum (296 pts) with CASE
22(44) Double Heat Sinks
1x RAC/5 - Nose (3 tons ammo)
3x ER Medium Laser - 2x Nose, 1x Aft
1x TAG - Nose
2x Large Laser - 1x RW, 1x LW
2x Streak SRM-6 - 1x RW, 1x LW (2 tons ammo)
4x MRM-10 - 2x RW, 2x LW (4 tons ammo)
1x AMS - Aft

TAG is for the roughly 10 tons of laser-guided bombs it'll have on external hardpoints under it's wings. This thing is outright death come incarnate to anything that's on the ground. Especially if the MRMs are fired as well. Although those do slow it to 3/5 in the air. On the other hand, if no one else is in in the air shooting at you, whomever is on the ground is in for a world of hurt.

I reckon if you swap the left wing with the right wing, so the direction of the wing sweep looks more generic. Ie, back swept wings. I think it might look even more awesome. It's an eye catching design whichever way you look at it. Nice job!

Now that is an absolutely badass A-10 conversion! You win 100 Internets, a jar of garlic dill pickles and a lap dance from a hot cat girl.

Now THIS would make a GREAT mini.
*Adds it to the list he would have IWM make if he ever won the lottery*

How heavy would you have it?
In order to have a decent ground attack weapons load out I would say at least 75 - 100 tons.
I would be torn between a Ultra 10 or 20 in the nose, or go with a standard AC10 or 20 with bins of precision or armor piercing ammo.

Hmm, must get new copy of Heavy Metal Aero and work out this design.

I have no idea what the stats are. I don't have HeavMetal Pro, just Solaris Skunk Werks, which lacks the designing of anything other than mechs. I'll leave stats for someone else.

I did have a rough weapons load, though, when I sketched it:

-2 Large Pulse Lasers
-2 MML-7s (ammo 4 tons)
-4 Rocket Launcher-20s
-2 ER Medium Lasers (R)
-2 Anti-Missile Systems (ammo 2 tons)
-Targeting Computer (total mass based on weapons 11 tons).

The weapons+TC alone would be 63 tons. So I'm not sure if a plane like this can even exist based on the rooms.

Drop off the RL20's and you would have the weight. :)
I'll crunch some numbers and see what I can come up with.
