Battletech - Death Incarnate by Amuscaria Battletech - Death Incarnate by Amuscaria
Another mech based on a Doom 2 monster; this one based on a custom monster from my own mod. Kept the basic theme of the monster, as well as the relation to the Revenant. Has eye-lasers, just like the monster.

The current config seems to have some overheating issues, but whatever. Finally learned the basics of configuration for Battletech, and if I did this correctly, everything should actually fit. One thing I hate about InnerSphere mechs is that everything weighs so damn much and takes up twice the room. Makes designing one very hard.

and we shall dub this 'atlas lite'
hahah, excellent job; mind if I make a TRO sheet and try it out in a match? seems a much better replacement to many established 60t IS mechs.

As Kahine put it, see if you can drop in TSM. Nothing like doubling your Melee dmg your Hatchet does. Although he's wrong about Tonnage - its 0 tons, but 6 crits. That and you get a spd bonus up to 6/9/0 for your mech (ignoring the -1 move you'd normally have). Would work wonders due to being an all energy mount mech.

Thats just the problem. I dont have 6 crits remaining, lol. I used FF-armor and Endo-Steel. I have 3 spaces crits on the entire thing.

Might I offer then an alternate?
Drop both small lasers, put in a Guardian ECM suite, and instead of Ferro-Fibrous armor, give it Stealth Armor (requires an ECM suite). Less protection, but it makes it much harder to spot/hit. It also always products 10 heat, when you activate the stealth features, and you'll have room for the TSM as well which fits perfectly with that as it always needs +9 heat to be active. Would definitely follow the 'mood' of the demon this is inspired from.

Well the eye lasers has to stay, since that's the integral part of the demon. I am working on another mech, one with a sword, that will use TSM.

Hmm....lemme run it through and perhaps you won't need to remove the 'eye' lasers. Although if you're using a standard cockpit, there is only room for one in the head (and I see you placed them in the center torso). Might I suggest a Small Cockpit (3075 rules, Level II Inner Sphere/Clan tech)? Weighs less as well.

The cockpit is in the chest. :D

O.k....that's a rarely seen lvl3 tech (mostly because high heat lvls = roasted pilot/screwy piloting & gunnery rolls). Interesting though.

If you are having heat problems. See if you can free up tonnage for TSM. With that hatchet it would make it really Death Incarnate!

That's mostly because Clan Tech is considered "high" technology. I've seen plenty of good Inner Sphere Mechs...they just needed to focus on reliability, simplicity, and ruggedness.

Regardless, this looks like a fairly effective combination. I like the placement of the hatchet. You might reconsider the placement of the pulse lasers, however. Instead of one on top of the other, you might have them side by side, the lower their profile.

I wouldn't say that its hard... its just hard to design a mech that's any good!

Personally, I prefer a lot of the Clan mechs simply because they *look* cooler than the Inner Sphere's.

Excuse me, sir, may I interest you in either the Catapult, Marauder v1 (and 2), Battlemaster, and Atlas? =3

I'll have to disagree with the Catapult (I don't think it looks like its all that and a bag of chips personally), the Marauder design was ripped off of the Glaug (aka Officer's Battlepod) from Robotech/Macross.

The Battlemaster looks good, but I hate that cockpit design, especially on something that is supposed to be 40-50 feet tall. That is just asking to get shot up...and even bullet-proof glass isn't as strong as armored plating.

The Atlas looks good for the most part, though I have to wonder if those hands can actually be used, or if they are just there for looks.

This is not to say that these mechs aren't good mechs in their own right. I know that the Atlas is six kinds of awesome for one thing... I just have trouble with their actual appearance and design really.

For the Catapult, this obviously is a difference of opinion. I like the very simple look of the box-carrying egg. :P
The Marauder v1, I knew it was a rip-off. It doesn't stop it from looking cool.
The Marauder v2 "Project Phoenix" looks like a new 'Mech entirely and oozes of its own brand of intimidation.
The Battlemaster, I talk of the v2 "Project Phoenix" version, which does have a smaller canopy than the first version.
At least we can agree on the Atlas. And yes, the hands DO work. In tabletop they can be used to punch, climb, grapple, or to pick things up. You'd be surprised how many other 'Mechs (especially Inner Sphere models) have hands as well.

I can only assume that you mean the newer Reseen versions of these mechs

For the Marauder II (and I am assuming you are talking about the IIc)...yeah, I can see the appeal to the design...but there are some glaring problems with some of the design. It wouldn't take much to correct to suit my aesthetic desires, but... yeah.

The images I found for the Battlemaster IIc pretty much which lead me to restate: large bubble-cockpits in plain view is an invitation for disaster and only serve to help emo pilots fulfill their suicidal complexes. Don't get me wrong, I've seen some good versions of the bubble cockpit that work for me because they are smaller and much less conspicuous. A GREAT example of a design I can get behind is the version done by Eriance here: [link]

Yeah, it still has the bubble cockpit, but it doesn't strike me as just sittin g there BEGGING to be shot at.

I was not referring to the IICs as those are actually totally different 'Mechs (and they're Clan, too! :P ).
