Battletech - Tarasque by Amuscaria Battletech - Tarasque by Amuscaria
Redesign of my quad-gauss-rifle Clan mech from 2009. Still testing out the new mech style I'm developing. Overall, the design came out pretty much like how I wanted, aside from a new clonky parts.

Original here: :thumb132911782:

I love clan stuff, despite the majority of BT fans not so. Their OPed and light weaponry allows for so much more awesome. :D

Probably won't bother inking this for a long while, since I got the practice I want out of the sketch.

Stats:

100 tons

-4x Gauss Rifles
-3x ER medium Lasers (1 rear)

EDIT: Formerly named "Leviathan".

Ahhh a Gausszilla style build, love it. I will need to properly make this into a mech sheet. Once I do would you mind if I used your artwork?

Think someone already made a mini for BT for this. Someone bought this design, so you'll have to ask them about it. Gotta remember who it was first.

Lemme see if I can find the name/email of the person that bought this. I don't think he would mind, but still.

Looks like 1 clan gauss per arm and L/R torso and 1 of the er med lasers in each torso with the CT one being the rear facing

This is absurdly good looking. I'll have you know felt I had to salute it as I left the page.

I've watched you go from doing a pretty much completely BT style through all of your experiments, and I have to say, it's been an honor watching your style evolve to one that is almost exclusively your own. And, you've done all this while studying and working on other rather large projects (DE for example). You are kind of a big deal.

Fulla shooty bits.

This is a 'mech that would actually do very well with the HAG's- they have similar range, and the 5-group clustering ability makes them attractive to gauss boats who want to start critting at range.

But really, you would only remove one cannon for a HAG 20 and a few extra tons of ammo with the weight freed up; and LRM's are far better by comparison.

Hm...4 Hag 20s would be lighter. I wasn't aware of HAGs when I first designed this mech, though. Lemme play with SSW to see if hags are better.

Although I understand that HAGs can't core mechs? Since it's like a LBX cluster shot? I've never played BT, so I don't really know how these weapons work outside their descriptions.

HAG's are supposed to be a cross between LBX and Gauss, using banks of capacitors to fire large ammounts of smaller shot at slightly longer ranges in an attempt to improve damage. To reflect this, they roll on the cluster hits table for damage- +2 at short range and -2 at long- and deal damage in 5 point groups.

Basically, they aren't as deadly as some CBT player make them out to be- while they come in sizes of 20, 30, and 40, their ammo levels are crazy low and most of the time you get better work out of using LRM's. HAG's only become effective if they are paired up with other, long range hole punchers to do most of the work- It would benefit this guy, for instance, because he would still have 3 Gauss rifles and he would then gain a long-and-short-range crit finder. So you'd be far better off keeping most of the rifles, only switching one out for a HAG 20 and more ammo to feed it.

You can just hear that Tech/Pilot saying: "Two more Guss Rifles would fit still"...

New one is better, with lots more destructive Gauss Rifles. I remember playing MEch Assault...the spinoff of BT and MW on the XBOX. Was lots of fun-Gauss Rifle was so overpowered, it shredded everything to bits XD
